ScienceLogic is a high growth technology company, whose SL1 platform has been recently recognized as a market leader in Infrastructure and Application monitoring.  We are moving beyond monitoring into AIOps, combining comprehensive, real time IT data with machine learning and automation technology to create autonomic digital enterprises.  ScienceLogic’s unique extensibility via PowerPacks requires a persistent, unique end-to-end and User Acceptance testing capability of authentic customer use cases.  We are seeking an experienced senior QA Engineer who serve as Customer 0 in a hands-on role and help build a sizing/scale estimator.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Performing application deployment and upgrades in both a dedicated lab and in AWS using customer-facing documentation
  • Meeting with seasoned customer engineers and system administrators to develop deep customer empathy and challenging User Acceptance Tests to break new ground in product quality
  • Collaborating with ScienceLogic’s Development engineering teams to understand and model use cases to ensure User Acceptance Testing coverage across all Release Candidate features
  • Developing and creating manual and automated test cases, with extensive scripting and test automation in Python
  • Create and maintain Deployment and maintenance automations using tools such as Ansible and PowerShell
  • Developing Test Plans, Test Standards for User Acceptance Testing
  • Building reports for Product Management and Engineering such as Defect Reports, Execution Reports, and Summary Reports
  • Conduct high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures
  • Scale Testing
  • Build SL1 test systems for Product management and Engineering
  • Participate in SL customer escalation cases for scale tests and solutions

Qualities you possess…

  • Bachelors’ degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 year’s practical Software Test Engineering and/or QA experience with both manual and automation testing
  • Excellent experience planning and executing tests for Back-End testing, End to End testing, security testing, and scale testing
  • Experience in analyzing and creating business specification documents, developing Test Plans, Test Strategy, Test Scope and defining Test Cases for Performance and Automation Test Scripts/Plans
  • Strong experience with QA processes and methodologies (manual and automated test processes, black box, white box and gray box testing, test case design, scripting and execution)
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle best practices (SDLC)
  • Experience in delivering products using an Agile methodology
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems
  • Experience testing in Linux, Windows and Mac OSX
  • Experience in developing SQL queries to validate functionality, data validation, and backend testing. (MySQL, Oracle)
  • Hands-on use of programming or scripting skills (PHP, JavaScript, GQL, REST Python, PowerShell, ansible) required
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Networking, Network Management Systems, SNMP, MIBs and Clusters required
  • Experience in creating and supporting automation frameworks such as BDD, Test Café, Selenium
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and analytical/problem-solving skills required
  • Advanced Excel skills building complex interactive Spreadsheets
  • Ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to produce top quality deliverables from start to finish
  • Experience with AWS and VMware is desirable
