The Chief Digital Transformation Office (CDTO) offers an opportunity to shape and drive VMware’s Digital Transformation to enable Operations to scale and support VMware’s growth.

We are a core team, responsible for Enterprise Architecture with the goal to accelerate Digital Transformation of VMware + M&A business portfolio & Technology platforms to meet the strategic goal of $20B by designing scalable solutions and removing obstacles to current and future transformation initiatives 

You will be part of data & analytics ecosystem that consists of large-scale Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Big Data Analytics Engines, ML frameworks which process terabytes of data and are geographically distributed across multiple data centres and hyper-scalers.

As a Data & Analytics architect, you will architect solutions for ingesting, managing and presenting analytics over high volume data stores.

You will drive innovation & design next generation platforms & solutions in areas of Data Engineering & AI/ML/Data Science (NLU, Bots) for business domains to make data-driven decisions.

Actively engage with Leadership to shape the broad analytics vision, translate into executable roadmaps, solution proposals including recommendations on industry trends and technology direction.

What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for? 

VMware data & analytics ecosystem includes Big Data Analytics tools (Hadoop, HDFS, Apache Spark), DWH (SAP HANA, AWS Redshift), Marketing Data Hub, Analytics Hub (AI/ML/Data Science) with data pipelines across 500+ applications & services shipping terabytes of data. Turn this information wealth into insights and drive business decisions through real-time customer journey analytics, product analytics and KPIs for business & operational portfolios.

You will guide ongoing Analytics Hub activities which provides centralized, secure, easy access to data and analytics assets in self-service way through federated portals that empower users produce reports, trends, visualizations, and insights that facilitate the data decision making process.

You will simplify and scale existing AI/ML/Data Science platform to build, train, and deploy machine learning (ML) models quickly through self-service tools.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? 

In next 6-12 months it is important to 

  • Develop pragmatic roadmaps & solution blueprints to enhance/revamp real-time customer journey analytics, product analytics and KPIs for business & operational portfolios.

  • Your expertise in AI/ML will enhance ChatOps frameworks to accelerate Bots & implement NLP/NLU use cases.

  • Work closely with Enterprise Search team to enhance internal & external users enterprise & application search experience with ML driven rating, ranking and relevance models.

  • You will optimize existing data pipelines for ingesting, managing and presenting analytics over high volume data stores.

  • Establish best practices for big-data technologies tools and own processes related to model selection, accuracy and efficiency

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? 

  • Guide data platform & analytics teams to deliver end-to-end cloud data and analytics projects.

  • Apply your hands-on expertise to make current data & analytics platforms more resilient and scale horizontally across multi-cloud solutions. Experience in one or many of these cloud platforms such as Snowflake, AWS Redshift, BigQuery and Azure Synapse.

  • Collaborate with teams to adopt statistical and predictive analytics and/or machine learning techniques to solve real business problems

  • Work with Business Analytics and data visualization teams to generate KPI using Tableau, Salesforce Einstein Analytics, Microsoft Power BI, etc.

  • Platform Optimisation across the ecosystem HDFS, Hadoop and Apache Spark.

You will report into the Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture but can expect to interact frequently with the Chief Technology Officer, IT and Enterprise Architects. As part of a relatively flat organization you will have full ownership of your domain. We encourage architects to be self-starters and drive initiatives taking complete end-to-end ownership working with cross functional teams and direct interactions with CIO leadership. 

Our expectation is that you will build skills over time and take advantage of such diverse team environment to develop into a well-rounded business leader who will strategize, design and execute future state architecture blue-print (Business capabilities and Platform capabilities) in accordance with CDTO/CIO/CTO Priorities.​ You will be responsible for enterprise governance, compliance and design scalable solutions in Data and Analytics domain.
