Kong products manage reliable digital connections across APIs, hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Kong users build and maintain software as developers, operators, and enterprise architects.
Product designers will report to the Design Director under the VP of Product. The multi-disciplinary Product Team includes practices for Documentation, Developer Relations, Product Management, and Design.
Kong is a fully distributed team with an HQ office in San Francisco. This role is fully remote and open to US and Canadian applicants. The role is eligible for work authorization sponsorship.

What You'll Do

    • Visual Design. You know what good looks like and how to harness foundational elements like layout, color, type, and grids to create mock-ups that match your good eye.
    • UX Design. Adept at designing, prototyping, testing, implementing, and evaluating user experiences of products.
    • Design System. Work within an established design system while contributing to component and style libraries in Figma.
    • Design Process. Follow a design process for product definition, facilitate cross-discipline sessions, manage inputs, and communicate progress to leadership and subject matter experts.
    • Release Planning. Map holistic end-to-end user experiences, identifying interdependencies, and contributing to release and launch plans.
    • Collaboration. Work with engineers and product managers to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for Kong products.
    • Data-Driven. Generate qualitative and quantitative data to iterate on new designs.
    • User Research. Lead studies with research goals that directly align with product strategy.
    • Product Analytics. Ability to measure whether user journeys are performing and for whom.

What You'll Bring

    • Product design portfolio required. Portfolio demonstrates an understanding of the design process, user research and design’s impact on business goals. 
    • Software development lifecycle. Experience working software teams and understand how code flows to production. (Career changers new to design from product management and software engineering most welcome!)
    • UI, UX, and visual design education, bootcamp or on-the-job experience.
