Job Description:

Must Haves

  • 10+ years of experience of testing processes, creating testing strategy documentation, test cases and test data.
  • Solid knowledge of Agile System Development Lifecycle.
  • Integration Testing (webservices, REST API, ETL Jobs, messaging queues)
  • Testing Webservices : REST, SOAP
  • SQL and/or NoSQL Databases
  • Jira

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in defining application testing strategy as well as approach to end to end testing
  • Develop and maintain test plans for applications implemented using Agile SDLC
  • Coordinate test activities as a member of a SCRUM team ; participate in sprint planning, provide story point estimates; participate in other Agile ceremonies
  • Participate in test integration activities
  • Report progress in test planning, test case definition, test execution and defect discovery, analysis and resolution
  • Provide test metrics for application program increments
  • Select and use testing tools for efficient test execution and test data generation
  • Participate in reviews of user stories, system architecture, code and design documents
  • Participate in sprint planning, provide story point estimates; participate in other Agile ceremonies
  • Identify project risks in the context of deadlines and quality of delivery; develop mitigation strategies
  • Define and execute (manually) complex test cases based on test strategies and plans, while maintaining established test case standards and patterns
  • Maintain application regression test suite along with the other members of the test team
  • Actively participate in collaborative resolution of defects including root cause analysis of production incidents
  • Continuously look for ways to innovate and improve testing process to gain efficiencies
  • Effectively communicate testing activities, findings, defects and project risk in oral and written formats
  • Ensure quality of software products delivered within the software development life cycle
  • Provides advice on the testing strategy, test plans, and the selection of testing tools
  • Plans and organizes testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests)
  • The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the development of test plans, test scripts and test cases and executing these against the various components. The tester will work with the testing lead and IT lead of each project as well as the project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems

General Skills:

  • Experience in planning, organizing and implementing testing efforts at the specified experience level
  • Knowledge of structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications
  • Experience executing functional tests, non-functional tests and systems level integration tests
  • Ensure quality of product delivery within SDLC with minimal supervision
  • Experience supporting user acceptance testing and participating in UAT activities
  • Experience with quality assurance principles, practices, tools (Jira) and structured methodologies
  • Experience creating testing strategy documentation, test plans, test cases and test data for various types and phases of testing, including technical and business functional validation
  • Experience in quality assurance and testing, including unit testing, integration testing, load testing, performance testing, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; organizational, creativity and perseverance skills; verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines

Desirable Skills:

  • Solid understanding of testing process industry standards and best practices
  • Proficient in all levels of testing, with a focus in integration testing (webservices, REST API, ETL jobs, messaging queues, etc.) as well as in various types of testing
  • Proficient in test case authoring and maintenance based on industry best practices
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL Databases
  • Demonstrated experience testing WebServices: REST, SOAP
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
  • Experience with Accessibility testing tools (JAWS, Dragon)
  • Experience planning and organizing testing efforts for both large and small systems
  • Experience testing Commercial Off-the Shelf Applications (COTS)
