Zendesk Engineering is growing and growing fast! The Engineering Practices and Enablement team enables that growth by leading key business operations with excellence.

As a Senior Program Lead, you are able to identify, prioritise and implement initiatives that improve the experiences of Engineers as we grow into a Digital First world. The influence you will have in this role is immense - you will be looking at ways to increase connections across our global teams, work to embed our culture within hybrid/remote teams, creating a community for our early & mid-career engineers, including supporting their people leaders to lead, coach and develop within our globally distributed Engineering organisation.

What you’ll be doing

This role works in to the Director, Engineering Enablement. You will champion connection and belonging across a globally distributed population, to help enable growth within a Digital First world, and will:

  • Create and program manage experiences for our Engineers globally, to improve connection and belonging in a Digital First world.

  • Identify, scope and handle initiatives that create community within the early & mid-career engineering cohort, and help enable their leaders to lead, coach and develop them with a distributed workforce.

  • Lead internal Engineering programs end-to-end, including project plans, success metrics, partner management and communications.

  • Key liaison with Engineering leaders, domain specialists, and partner working groups to ensure programs align to business needs.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of implemented initiatives through data analysis.

  • Vendor management as applicable.

  • Initial focus areas for this role are: Research, scope and implement initiatives to create greater connection and a sense of belonging across Engineering globally – including scoping desired cultural elements to include and focus in on; Review engagement survey results to understand levers, pain points and opportunities within Engineering and seek to create initiatives and enablement to improve results, specifically around Digital First; Seek to create metrics for our remote vs in-office populations, to validate how Engineering is tracking against our desired state of equity; Seek to solve for distributed individuals feeling connected through a high sense of inclusion, regardless of location.

What you bring to the role


  • Program management skills are essential and will be demonstrated in the delivery of our Digital First and early & mid-career initiatives.

  • Experience in thinking creatively and using Design Thinking/Human Centered Design methodologies.

  • Program management, engineering, technical writing OR direct engineering partnership experience is useful to quickly ramp in the Engineering space.

  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) is critical and core to the success of this role.

  • Experience in organisational change, enablement and communications strategy.


  • Proactive, detailed individual who can seek practical solutions and deal with a variety of variables.

  • Excellent decision making skills with a curiosity about identifying, prioritising, and articulating the highest impact learning initiatives.

  • Confident presentation of ideas and solutions to all levels of audiences including senior executives.

  • Comfortable dealing with external vendors, including relationship creation and management.
